What’s the point of spending the time and effort to regularly create and publish content to your blog if you’re not going to promote it? Blogging is not a “set it and forget it” proposition. Promote your blog articles on Facebook, Twitter and the like and let your followers spread the word.
Use Analytics to Identify and Re-Share Top Blog Content
Use your web analytics (such as Google Analytics) to identify your most popular blog articles, then re-post them to your social networks. The ‘half life’ of a link on social media (the time it takes a link to receive half the clicks it will ever receive after it’s reached its peak) is very fast, only 2.8 hours on Twitter, and 3.2 hours on Facebook, according to Bit.ly. So it’s likely that many of your social fans will not have seen your post the first time around.
Leverage Social media Real Estate on your company pages
Include social sharing buttons and links on your website pages. Include a link to your blog in your company page’s ‘About’ section. On Facebook, create a custom tab in your page’s ‘Views & Apps’ section that highlights some of your big hit blog articles. On Twitter, include a link to your blog in a custom background you create.
What sort of content really connects with your followers?
- Photos: Photos get 53% more Likes, 104% more comments, and 84% more click-throughs.
- Short posts: Posts with 80 characters or less get 66% more engagement.
- Questions: “Question” posts get 100% more comments.
- Frequent posting: Posting 1-2 times a day gets 40% more engagement. Posting 1-4 times a week gets 71% more engagement.
