5 Ways to Drive Facebook Fans to Your Website

Written by Chris Kelley on Thu, Oct 03, 2013

facebook website trafficPeople are inundated with emails, Facebook posts, and tweets. They need a good reason to visit your website. The most effective way to drive traffic from Facebook is by providing fans with the high quality content they want to read. This will not only get visitors to your site, it will keep them coming back. With all the noise on the Internet, how do you make content that will stand out and reel the reader in? Here are a few tips:

Use images to make your content visually interesting.

According to research from HubSpot, photos and images on Facebook generate 53% more Likes than the average post. Furthermore, Shareaholic recently reported that Pinterest is now the 4th largest traffic driver worldwide.

Listen to your audience and write about what they want.

It’s not all about you. Temper the urge to post only your company news releases. A good guideline is the “social media 4-1-1.” It goes like this:

  • Share 4 pieces of content from your social influencers, or fans that follow you. They will notice and will help you back when you come asking.
  • Post one piece of original content.
  • Post one press release, award, or announcement of a new product…the stuff no one cares about.

Include data to prove your point and give you more authority.

Numbers and stats provide the rationale that makes people, particularly potential prospects and leads, sit up and pay attention. Link to and comment on online studies. Even better, conduct your own research and publish your findings.

Make sure your content is relevant to your industry. As much as people enjoy humor, they’re a fan of your Facebook page because of the specific content you offer. It can be fun and relevant at the same time.

Link back to your website.

While having a lot of Facebook fans makes you look great, it doesn’t directly impact your business growth. That’s up to you. Once you have your content, use it to entice your audience to go past your Facebook page and spend time on your website.

The best way to do this is by offering an irresistible call-to-action (CTA) that takes a fan from Facebook to a landing page on your site. This provides the opportunity to turn that visitor into a lead simply by providing an offer. Post a variety of offers, from limited time promotions to eBooks and demos, to ensure you’re engaging people at all stages of their buying process. Just make sure the offer you provide is aligned with your business goals and brand identity.
